Family Weekend 2024

Registration opens on August 28 at 12:00 pm ET.

Celebrating Penn State traditions is sweeter when shared with family. 

  •  Events are scheduled from Friday, October 18 at 2:00 pm to Sunday, October 20 at 4:00 pm.
  • Lodging fills quickly in the State College area. Visit Penn State or Happy Valley Adventure Bureau to explore options.
  • Some events require an additional RSVP, fee, and/or ticket purchase. Space is limited for these events and many fill up/sell out VERY quickly. You must be registered for Family Weekend to purchase tickets for the All Sports Museum Beaver Stadium Tour. Please note: Beaver Stadium Tour tickets go on sale on Tuesday, September 10 at 12:00 pm ET. 
  • Explore the Schedule of Events to assist you in making your travel plans.

Registration is required for all families.

  • The $25 per family registration fee* includes:
    • Campus buses/trolleys at no extra charge.
    • Events including the Ice Cream Social, Welcome Breakfast, Fam Fest, academic events, Sneak Peek of Beaver Stadium, and more
    • Registration packet with lanyards, nametags, and special Penn State family gifts
    • Opportunity to purchase Beaver Stadium Tour tickets (these sell out quickly; ticket sale begins September 10 at 12:00 pm EST; link provided after completing registration in the confirmation email)
    • After you complete your registration you will receive a confirmation email with additional instructions on how to register and/or purchase tickets to these events. Please note these events may fill up or sell out quickly.
  • Parking is NOT included. Parking reservations will open October 4 at 12:00 pm ET. We will provide additional information prior to that date. There is plenty of parking for all families. 

*For families of Pell-Eligible/Low-income Students: We offer registration fee waivers for up to 50 families. Families requesting a fee waiver should complete their registration and contact the Parents Program at parents@psu.edu for further instruction. The fee waiver comes as a credit card refund. 

Check-in is required for all families.

  • The registration packet includes a lanyard and nametag for each family member, a Family Weekend schedule of events, a Flat Lion, a special Penn State family item, and more all tucked into a clear tote bag (guaranteed for the first 3,500 families who register). Family Weekend lanyards and nametags are REQUIRED at all non-ticketed Family Weekend events.

Refunds:

  • If you cancel before September 27 at 5:00 p.m. ET, we can offer a 75% refund of your registration fee ($18.75)
  • We are not able to provide a refund for cancelations after September 27.
