Academics in College
Posted about 3 years ago .

One of the most common questions students get asked when they tell family and friends they are heading to college is: “What are you going to major in?” Your student may be absolutely sure of their intended major, or they might still be exploring their options. Penn State encourages curiosity for all students. Exploration through coursework is one way that students grow as learners and begin to refine their academic goals. While your student will always be encouraged to follow the plan for their intended degree, it is still important that they discover new ideas and find new interests through their coursework.

While we hope your student’s academic journey brings wonder and discovery, your student has an ethical obligation to be honest and operate with integrity at Penn State. Academic integrity is the pursuit of scholarly activity in an open, honest, and responsible manner. Why does this matter? Integrity is one of the Penn State Values. Penn State students are a community of learners who hold themselves to a high ethical standard in their pursuit of knowledge. You can read more about Academic Integrity in the Faculty Senate Policy on Academic Integrity.
