This story is a good story of the origins of "We Are...", and commendable that Penn State had the all or nothing focus on these specific games way ahead of its time. However, what stands out the most is this "We Are... " philosophy didn't transfer back on campus when the black players impacted weren't allowed to stay on campus in the residence halls. I'd be interested in hearing when blacks were allowed to live on campus residence hall at Penn State and the specific efforts implemented today to ensure blacks are sufficiently represented via faculty, counselors, mentors and other support teams to ensure a smooth college transition, especially in the College of Engineering. Kudos for the progress made so far at Penn State, but I'm sure much more needs to be done.
