SHARE WITH YOUR STUDENT--
Calling all first, second, and even third-year students - - the 2023 Family Ambassador application is now open! The Parents Program is searching for enthusiastic, driven, and diverse undergraduate students who enjoy connecting with and helping parents and families of Penn State students.
Specifically, we are looking for students committed to working on a team, seeking event planning experience, and refining their leadership skills. If this describes you, your roommate, or your best friend, we encourage everyone to apply here!
Why become a Family Ambassador?
Family Ambassadors (FAMBs, as we call them) enjoy networking opportunities with parents, students, and university leaders and free meals at events throughout the year. Not only is this opportunity a chance to build their resumé, but students can also expect support and friendship throughout their entire term and beyond.
Junior Family Ambassador, Abi Nafus, says “I joined Family ambassadors as a way to connect with my peers here at school and get involved, but also help others make a positive family connection during the college transition. I love being able to work with other Family Ambassadors to help facilitate a support network for students here at Penn State.”
What does a Family Ambassador do?
FAMB responsibilities include helping with Move-In Weekend in August, Parents and Families Weekend in the fall, Accepted Student Program (ASP) tabling in the spring, orientation tabling throughout the summer (if available), and office tasks. Throughout all these events, it is expected that students will represent Penn State in a professional manner and maintain a supportive and welcoming attitude. Interested students in good academic standing are encouraged to apply.
What is the Family Ambassador's time commitment?
The Family Ambassador term is from January through November 2023. We ask that FAMBs volunteer four hours each month and attend biweekly meetings.
All questions can be directed to parents@psu.edu or 814-863-1313. The Parents Program office is located at 225 Bank of America Building where students can stop by to ask their questions in person and meet the staff.
For more information about who the Family Ambassadors are and what they do, check out our website. The application deadline is Friday, November 11.
