2023 classes at Penn State Scranton begin this Monday, May 15. Students should review their summer schedule in LionPATH before the start of Summer Session 1 and be aware of schedule adjustment dates and deadlines in case they need to make changes. The Academic Calendar for the various Summer Sessions can be found at https://www.registrar.psu.edu/academic-calendars/2022-23.cfm.

Course Delivery Modes

Summer classes are being delivered in-person, online, or a blend of both. Instruction modes are detailed at https://www.registrar.psu.edu/registration/instruction-modes.cfm. If there is a classroom location listed for any component of a course, students are expected to meet in person during those days and times, unless otherwise noted by the instructor for occasional adjustments. If class meets on campus, use https://scranton.psu.edu/map for assistance in locating classroom buildings and student parking. If class is hybrid or web, students will hear from instructors about accessing the class and course materials. Most classes, regardless of delivery mode, utilize CANVAS for instructional content.

Additional notes for students:

Dropping or Withdrawing

Students may view the drop date for each class on your schedule in LionPATH. Once a class begins, there may be a tuition penalty for dropping. If dropping your only or last remaining class from your Summer schedule, even if it has not yet started, you will not be able to drop it yourself in LionPATH. You must reach out for assistance as follows:

  • If the class has not yet started, please email the Registrar at the campus offering the class. Scranton classes can be dropped by emailing SNregistrar@psu.edu.
  • If the class has started, but you can document you have not attended or participated, it may be cancelled from your record by emailing SNregistrar@psu.edu, provided the instructor is able to verify the non-attendance.
  • If you have been attending/participating, you will need to Withdraw to drop your only class. PSU students can process a Summer-Only Withdrawal, which will not disenroll you from your Fall schedule, only Summer. Visiting students will process a regular Withdrawal. Details about withdrawing can be found at http://www.registrar.psu.edu/enrollment/leaving/withdrawal.cfm. Scranton students can email us at SNregistrar@psu.edu with questions or concerns and are encouraged to consult an academic adviser and student financial services when considering a withdrawal.

Tuition and Billing

Student Account Statements are generated the 1st of every month and are available in LionPATH to view and pay. Please visit https://scranton.psu.edu/tuition-information for details about viewing and paying tuition and for the contact info for our Campus Bursar’s Office staff.

Books and Materials
Summer textbook information can be found at https://psu.bncollege.com. Select textbooks to find course materials available as new, used, rental and digital, as offered.

Grades and Transcripts

Final grades can be viewed in LionPATH as soon as they are submitted by the instructor. Official Transcripts can be requested in LionPATH while you are a current student (Academic Records > Request Official Transcript). Once your student Access Account becomes inactive, Official Transcripts can be requested at registrar.psu.edu using the Former Student login option.
