On October 3, 2023, University Health Services registration holds will be placed for all students who have not submitted mandatory immunization information through myUHS. The registration hold will prohibit students from scheduling courses until the requirement has been met. This will primarily impact students new to the University in summer and fall 2023. LionPATH screen shots are available on page 2 of this document for your information.
To have the registration hold removed, students must complete the process outlined on University Health Services website. Students must:
- Obtain a copy of their official immunization record(s). This information will be used to accurately submit the dates of immunizations online through myUHS.
- Log in to myUHS using their Penn State access credentials.
- Click on "View my clearances" to enter the dates of the required MMRs and meningococcal conjugate vaccine.
- Upload an image or PDF file of the official immunization records and, if applicable, any positive antibody titer blood test results.
How long will it take for the hold to be lifted after the student submits their information?
Within three business days of submission, students will receive a secure message through myUHS alerting them if what they submitted does not meet the requirement(s). If the requirement has been met, the hold will be lifted at that time.
Why are there two holds? What do they mean?
There are two holds being used—one for students who are living in university-owned housing and are non-compliant with the meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4) requirement, and one for students who are non-compliant for the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine requirement.
It is possible for students to be compliant with one and not the other. If you’re assisting a student, the name of the hold will give you and the student a good indication of what steps must be taken. However, since each situation is unique and HIPAA-protected, students are encouraged to visit myUHS for more information.
What if the student has questions about removing the hold?
At the time the hold was placed, all students received an email that they have a secure message through the myUHS portal outlining the steps that need to be taken. Students should reference myUHS for more information.
What is the impact of the hold(s)?
The registration hold will prohibit students from registering for spring 2024 courses until the requirement has been met. Since the hold has no end date; students will not be able to complete any future registration until they are compliant.
