The Parents Program is seeking new volunteers who can assist at events and provide a unique perspective beneficial to students and families at Penn State.
Made up of University Park parents and family members, Parent Ambassadors contribute their diverse perspectives and expertise to various initiatives that benefit not just the Parents Program, but the University as a whole. The goal of the program is to foster positive connections between parents, families, and Penn State.
Parent Ambassadors serve students and families of undergraduate students at the University Park campus by:
- Enhancing communication between parents, family members, and the University
- Providing a positive Penn State experience for parents and families of undergraduate and prospective students, assisting in sharing information with parents and families at various events
- Encouraging involvement and participation from parents and families that reflect Penn State’s diverse undergraduate student population
- Facilitate the sharing of information at events that encourages participation and engagement from a diverse range of parents and families
Parent Ambassadors serve as liaisons between parents, families, the Parents Program, and the University throughout the year, assisting with parent and family outreach efforts and events. Ambassadors share Penn State knowledge and experiences with parents and families and serve a one-year renewable term beginning in April.
Penn State places a high value on volunteers and recognizes the commitment that ambassadors make to be volunteers, including your time and the cost of travel and lodging. Being a Parent Ambassador offers numerous benefits, such as:
- Maintaining a connection to your student’s education, which can be beneficial to students, families, and the University
- Becoming more knowledgeable about University resources and programs that support student success, transition, learning, and engagement
- Participating in parent and family outreach initiatives developed by the Parents Program
- Connecting with other Penn State parents and family members, contributing to the success of Penn State through your efforts engaging with other families
Applications are being accepted now until March 31. Any additional questions can be directed to the Parents Program office via email, parents@psu.edu, or phone call, (814) 863-1313.
