The Penn State Chaiken Center for Student Success provides peer success coaching open to all first-year students and is designed to help students find their footing. Many students discover that the study strategies that worked in high school don’t always lead to the results they hoped for in college. Our trained peer coaches meet one-on-one with students to help them build new systems for staying organized, managing their time, and building study strategies that work for them.
Coaching is free, personalized, and focused on empowering students to adjust quickly and successfully. Whether it’s creating a better study routine, balancing competing priorities, or developing new academic habits, Peer Success Coaching helps students turn early challenges into long-term growth. It’s a great way for your student to learn from peers who have been in their shoes and found what works at Penn State.
Students can connect with a Peer Success Coach in a few different ways:
1. Use the “Raise My Hand” link in Starfish.
2. Schedule an appointment with a Peer Success Coach from our homepage (success.psu.edu).
3. Stop by the Penn State Chaiken Center for Student Success in 325 Boucke Building Monday through Friday between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
In addition to Peer Success Coaching, the center also provides professional academic success coaching, free basic school supplies, first-gen student support, and success workshops. To learn more visit https://success.psu.edu. You can also follow the center on instagram @psu_success.
